Wondering how long your MRE's will last? Want to get the most out of your survival food storage?
Here are some quick tips to extend your MRE shelf life. If you're looking for the best prices on M.R.E.'s check out our MRE meals page.
Average MRE Shelf Life:
The average MRE shelf life is about 3 - 5 years. Depending on how you store them however, you can get up to 7 years (and some sellers even clain 10 years although I'd be wary of that).

How To Extend Shelf Life:
Store In A Cool Dry Place - If you store your MRE's in a cool place like a cold cellar for example, you'll get a longer shelf life out of them. It's not necessary to store them in a fridge (although that certainly wouldn't hurt).
Avoid Temperature Extremes - Don't store your MREs in very hot or very cold temperatures (no car trunks on a hot summer's day!). This includes even for the short term. Avoid temperature extremes as much as you can.
Buy Only From Trusted Sources - Don't buy from some guy selling second-hand out of the back of his van. You don't know the background of the MREs. He could be selling old product that is already expired.
So those are some ways to get more from your MRE storage. Not all packages are created equal - some give you more calories, side dishes and snacks than others.
Know who you're buying from and exactly what you're getting in each meal. That way you're more likely to get a good deal and high value for the money.
